Better Late Than Never! Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

It's time again to join the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom, and again, I am a few days late.  For all of you who know Darlingist Dr. Momsie, you may understand why I'm running a little late.  But, for those of you stopping by from the party, new to the blog, let me explain.

Hi, I'm Dr. Momsie.  I'm a momsie, wife, and licensed psychologist.  I work in an urban public school district, with children ranging in age from 3 to 18.  My expertise is in working with parents, students, and teachers to tackle behavioral and emotional problems that stem from anything from trauma to anxiety.  I am also a Christian, which makes my perspective on psychology a little bit unique.  I work full-time while my two year-old son is in daycare and I often struggle with working-mom guilt.  I write about being a working Christian mom, psychological and child development insights, raising babies and toddlers, and lots of other relevant momsie topics.

Let me introduce you to the family.  I'm married to a wonderful Christian man and have a beautiful two year-old son, "Jr." In July, we are expecting our second child (a girl!), whom we are calling "Peanut."  Aren't I one blessed chick?! As you can see, we are a bi-racial family, which also comes up a bit in the blog.

Over the next year, I plan to write about pregnancy, being a mom to a new-born, managing the chaos of a two-child household, parenting a toddler, and many other timely topics, all from a psychological and Christian perspective.  Please forgive me if I don't write as much as I should.  Family and work often take priority to writing, but I sure love to do it as often as I can.

I love interacting with my readers, and I covet comments, both those that agree with my thoughts and those that can show another perspective.  I also am all about helping other momsies.  So, if you have a question about your child's behavior, parenting, a new psychological diagnosis, etc. that you'd like to share with me, please see my Ask Dr. Momsie page.

Thanks for stopping by!  Leave a comment and I'll try to return the visit soon!

  1. Ah, how vividly I remember that working-mom guilt. Congratulations on a new little one on the way! Girls are SO much fun to shop for (have you ever compared the girl section in stores to the boy section)! I'm glad you dropped by so I could find your blog!

  2. I enjoyed reading about you! You have a sweet looking family. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  3. Hello Dr Momsie,
    Nice to meet you!
Thank you for sharing a bit about your life.

I'm visiting from the ubp and I hope you are enjoying the hop!

  4. I'm glad to have found this through UBP13! I'm kind of a newb to blogging, but I'm loving it so far. I'm an educator (for what seems to have been an eternity), former foster parent (for kids with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities) and adoptive dad of two kiddos with special needs. It's been great reaching out, talking to, and hopefully helping other families! My whole blog is all about learning to learn and helping families succeed using brain-based practices. Come check it out. I think you will like it!

  5. Hello! I found you via the UBP13 and I think it's wonderful that you are a psychologist to public school students and families. There are so many kids out there growing up in crazy circumstances, they need someone who is wise to listen to them, give them advice and whether they know it or not, pray for them. I think your family is beautiful! Congrats on your new little one, I am due in August this year too. You can check out my blog if you want at . :)

  6. Hi!! New follower here, I found you on the UBP13! Your blog is absolutely amazing! I am a new blogger and hope you can come by and follow me at!

  7. What a beautiful family, and a very busy life! I can imagine the challenges you must have being a Christian and in your field. I'm so glad I stopped by, I will definitely be back!

  8. Your family is gorgeous! Congratulations on your pregnancy and upcoming baby! I'm following you on Twitter now, and hope you'll come by my post and see if you like it! (We could sure use a psychologist around those parts!)
